The Gap State School Library and Resource Centre is a welcoming and vibrant place for exploring, learning, socialising and fun. It is shared space and belongs to the whole school community. It incorporates the Library, the Learning Technology Centre (LTC) and the Resource Centre.

The Library regularly adds to its vast collection of fiction and non-fiction books for children in all year levels. Students are strongly encouraged to borrow weekly and are given opportunity to do so with a scheduled class visit to the library for borrowing each week.

The library is open before school from 8.40am and after school until 3.00pm, Tuesdays , Wednesdays and Thursdays for returning and borrowing books. It is also open at both breaks during the day (except Friday ). As well as access to thousands of books, The Gap State School provides board games, drawing materials, comfortable areas to sit and friendly faces to all those who enter. There are often interactive displays based on current events, as well as displays of student work. We are always open to suggestions from students about how to improve the usability and enjoyment of the space. Parents are always welcome to come in and have a look around.

Learning Technology Centre (LTC)

The LTC is a computer laboratory inside the library and is used to assist students and teachers to best reach learning and curriculum goals. The class-set of high quality laptops (along with a data projector) are used for a myriad of e-learning activities including: word processing, creating presentations, video editing, Internet research, publishing, cyber safety courses, and of course, games.

As well as lessons with the Teacher-Librarian and their classroom teachers, students are able to access the LTC laptops during first and second breaks (after the eating time). Allocated days for year levels are;

Monday and Wednesday - Years 1-3

Tuesday and Thursday - Years 4-6

Friday - Closed

They are permitted to access programs used during classes, as well as educational or age-appropriate games.

Resource Centre

The Resource Centre is directly behind the library. It is a modern, high quality facility that includes large, open spaces, display walls, a trolley of laptops, an interactive white board, flexible furniture and a green room. It is often used for year level gatherings and special events.

Online Resources

The Gap State School uses an online Library Management System, called Concord Infiniti, which student's can access from home. Both the catalogue and an online encyclopedia are available using Concord Infiniti. Log-in details are included in the link on the right of this page.
