TKatie Stubbings.pnghe Gap State School has proudly served the vibrant community of The Gap in the western suburbs of Brisbane since its establishment in 1912.

At The Gap State School, we are dedicated to providing a quality public education that fosters the potential of every student. Our focus on building pathways for success ensures that each student can realise their full potential through Learning with Equity and Excellence. We are committed to Starting Strong, laying strong foundations, and providing the support necessary for every student to be On Track for Success for their secondary years.

Our school's motto, 'Striving for Success,' reflects our aim to maximise the educational outcomes for all students in a nurturing and supportive environment. The staff at The Gap State School are united in their commitment to “The Gap Way", which upholds high expectations, academic excellence, social and emotional learning, and a strong partnership between school and home. We also recognise the importance of community and its vital role in shaping a successful learning journey.

The Gap State School is known for its positive student behaviour, fostering a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. This culture allows our teachers to deliver effective lessons in the classroom and ensure that every student is engaged and motivated to learn.

Our school's 5 Core Values guide us in fostering the well-being, relationships, and social-emotional development of our students as the cornerstone of their academic achievements. These values are:

  1. We ignite a passion for lifelong learning.
  2. We treat each other with respect and dignity.
  3. We recognise, care for, and respect individual differences, supporting all students to reach their potential.
  4. We are all committed to being the best we can be.
  5. We create a happy, caring environment where everyone is valued and respected.

We encourage parents, carers, and the broader community to actively engage in the work of our school. We deeply appreciate and support the critical role that parents play as partners in their children's learning, working together to provide the foundation for lifelong success.

It is an honour to be entrusted with the education of your children. The trust you place in our school reflects the belief in the collective power of our staff to create positive change in the lives of individuals and in society.

I invite you to join us in this exciting and rewarding journey.
