The Gap State School

The Gap State School was established in 1912 and offers educational programs from Prep to Year 6. It is set in expansive surrounds and is a future-focused, collaborative community, proud of its long history and rich traditions. The Gap State School has an inclusive, caring culture that values the diverse aspects of our school community. By working together in an inclusive school environment our values of learning, caring, growing and achieving are put into action. We provide opportunities for children’s social, emotional, physical and cultural growth by creating positive and dynamic learning environments. The students at The Gap State School are very capable, well behaved and enthusiastic learners. The school's dedicated and professional staff are committed to achieving quality learning outcomes and continuous school improvement.

Teachers engage in agreed best teaching and learning practices from direct instruction to guided and supported inquiry, where student voice and visible thinking feature strongly. The school is a part of the Mount Coot-tha Cluster, formed by a group of schools in the local area.  The Gap State School has developed strong links with The Gap State High School and we are proud of our transition to high school program.  The Gap State School is nestled under the bushy slopes of Mt Coot-tha in north-west Brisbane about ten kilometres from the Brisbane CBD at the corner of Waterworks Road and Settlement Road in the suburb of The Gap.
