The Gap Primary School has proudly served The Gap community in the western suburbs of Brisbane since its establishment in 1912.
Our school is committed to providing a quality public education for all students in line with our motto ‘Striving for Success’. Our aim is to maximise the educational outcomes for all, in a supportive school environment. The staff at The Gap State School are committed to “The Gap Way” of high expectations, academic learning, social and emotional learning, strong partnership between school and home and recognition of the importance of community.
The Gap State School enjoys a high standard of student behaviour, creating fun and safe playground environments and allowing effective teaching to occur in the classrooms.
Our school’s 5 Core Values place importance on the relationships, the well-being and the social and emotional development of children as the foundation for academic earning. They are:
- We ignite passion for life-long learning.
- We treat each other with respect and dignity.
- We recognize, care for and respect individual differences and support students in reaching their potential.
- We are all committed to being the best we can be.
- We create a happy, caring environment where everyone is valued and respected.
We encourage parents, carers and the wider community to actively participate in the work of our school. And importantly, we acknowledge and support the vital role that parents play as partners in their children’s learning.
I am honoured that parents choose our school to educate their children. It is an act of faith and trust in the work that we do as a whole staff. Teachers affect children’s lives and as a profession we have the power to create great good for both individuals and society.
I invite you to join us in this exciting and rewarding journey.
