The Gap State School is a community with high expectations, committed to nurturing and extending the diverse abilities of students and encouraging them to be the very best that they can be in all they do. Our motto, 'Striving for Success', embraces a holistic view of education. It's an approach that, not only develops the intellect, but also the strength of character and integrity of our students. Our community links are vital in providing such opportunities for our students. Our school has strong links with The Gap State High School with the vast majority of our students choosing to complete their secondary education at their local high school. Our school has a connection with the local Regis Aged Care residence as older student classes make regular visits to share in activity time.
Senior instrumental music students may audition for GRIPPS (Gap Regional Instrumental Primary Performers School), an annual initiative of The Rotary Club of Ashgrove/The Gap. Year 6 students also have the opportunity to complete the Rotary Junior Community Award which is a six month challenge, providing personal growth and community contribution and connection opportunities. The annual STEM Expo includes an open evening to celebrate and engage with learning in the fields of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics. Ashgrove / The Gap Lions Club is a proud supporter and sponsor of the event.
Our active Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) provides opportunities for school community members to enjoy a sense of belonging and shared purpose. They run a number of events throughout the year helping to build relationships and community, including the biennial school fete and musical Soiree.
